Campaigning
By the result of pressure by R.A.G.E. on the Department of Health, and with the co-operation of rage members, all cancer centres were targeted with the publications 'Management of adverse effects following Breast Radiotherapy' and 'Brachial Plexis Neuropathy following Radiotherapy for Breast cancer'. These Centres should be providing the range of services and specialist referrals appropriate to a patient's needs.
Rage continues to press for better and more expert treatment. There are ongoing representations to the Secretary of State for Health, both directly and via our members own MPs. There is a strong body of support on all sides of the House of Commons for financial recompence to be paid to those with disabling injury in order to restore some quality of life. A 'Class action' presented for trial at the High Court in 1998 on behalf of 132 sufferers was largely unsuccessful.
